Amazon Echo is Amazon's take on voice recognition. It is a cylindrical type speaker that is always plugged into the wall. It works the same way as Ok, Google or Siri where it has an activation word like "Ok, Google" or "Hey Siri". The activation word for Amazon Echo is "Alexa". In my experience of using Echo, the activation word works 99.9% of the time. You can ask echo many things such as "Alexa, how's the weather looking today?" or "Alexa, add butter to my shopping list.". Echo also can respond to more silly questions such as "Alexa, tell me a joke." Echo also doubles as a bluetooth speaker that can play any audio or music coming from your device. The bluetooth and other settings features such as volume can be easily controlled with your voice. Another way to control your Echo as well as see a detailed description of things you have done with Echo (Shopping List, Etc.) can be accessed from the Amazon Echo app on your smartphone. The app is also how you set up your amazon echo to your wifi. Some additional features that Echo has is that it can control Hue and WeMo devices. Amazon Echo definitely has lots of potential in voice recognition at home or in the office in my opinion.
